He said: “I can’t disrespect all the work I’ve put into this fight and all the work that needs to be put in from now until Saturday night.
“I have 25 minutes in the Octagon with one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the roster right now.
“Winning the belt and then unifying the belt and all that stuff, that’s not even a reality until I make it happen.
“So honestly, right now, my whole team is just focused on me being the best Dustin Poirier and shocking the world.”
Poirier, 30, has finished three former world champions in his last three fights and is adamant he’ll add Holloway’s name to his list of victims.
“I’m going to be the first guy to finish Max Holloway and I’m going to be the last guy to finish Max Holloway,” the American Top Team star said. “I don’t know how but it’s going to get done.”
