Cena has been wrestling on a part-time basis with WWE since 2017 due to his advanced age of 42 and his busy Hollywood schedule.
The Champ made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 35 in his old Dr of Thuganomics persona and took out Elias following a savage verbal takedown.
However, this seems to have been a one-off appearance as the 16-time world champion is facing a busy movie schedule for months to come.
According to Variety, The Leader of the Cenation may be part of the second movie of Suicide Squad along with Margot Robbie and Idris Elba.
I don’t know what the hell I am going to do after this
It has been confirmed that James Gunn will direct and write the film but it is not yet known what kind of role Cena or Elba – who wasn’t part of the first film – will have.
Production is expected to start this autumn and will hit theatres on August 6, 2021.
The first Suicide Squad film was a box office sensation in 2016 as it grossed $746.8m (£575.2m) worldwide.
Cena is also expected to team up with fellow WWE legend Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the Janson Directive.
The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions will produce the thriller and his legendary rival will star as Robert Ludlum’s Paul Janson character.
It also looks like Cena will host the Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader game show that will put adults’ knowledge to the test by having them answer questions taken from elementary curriculum.
The ex-WWE Champion recently addressed his WWE future and said he isn’t sure when his next in-ring appearance will take place.
He stated after WrestleMania: “I don’t know what the hell I am going to do after this.
“For years my contribution on television has helped sell tickets to this event.
“This year that was not true.
“And it is still completely sold out and everyone is still completely on the edge of their seat.”
