The WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight champion takes on Ruiz Jr next weekend in his stateside debut.
Joshua has noticeably built his leg muscle during an extensive 12-week training camp, during which he has left no stone unturned.
The majority of the preparation process took place in Sheffield before AJ flew out to Miami to see it through and taper down.
But in an interview with BULK POWDERS, Joshua revealed his focus on the mental side of things as much as the physical.
You should train your mind as much as your body. Brain training games, mental tests really help.
“As I’m getting older, training is more about quality,” he said.
“I train ten times a week, with two sessions a day for five days.
“Weekends are more focused on stretching and recovery.
“You should train your mind as much as your body. Brain training games, mental tests really help.
“Because the sharper you are in your head the sharper you are in your body.”
Joshua lives a simple lifestyle during camp, residing in a two-bed flat close to his Sheffield gym.
Besides his single bed and a living room which also encompasses a kitchen, there is not much else to the crib.
“When people have come here and when people have seen this place, they do wonder why we haven’t moved,” he said. “Because it works.
“It’s peaceful, everyone has their own space, better sleeping, food to eat and it accommodates what we need for training.
“And do you know what’s brilliant about it? The gym is a two-minute roll down the hill.
“There’s no excuses not to train so it’s a perfect location.”
