Canelo Alvarez once busted a bully's nose open after being teased for his ginger hair at the age of 11.
That was the first time the feisty Mexican fought back – fast forward 19 years and he is among the most feared men on the planet.
Real name Saul Alvarez Barragan, the Guadalajara-born star has won four world championships in four weight classes, from light middleweight to light heavyweight.
Currently fighting as a super middleweight, Canelo has garnered fame for his excruciating body shots and counterpunching.
BoxRed rank him as the best pound for pound fighter in the world and he has won 55 of his 58 matches – including against Amir Khan, Callum Smith and Gennady Golovkin.
The only loss on his slate was against Floyd Mayweather, which had to go to a majority decision, and Alvarez has Billy Joe Saunders in his sight this weekend.
But before he stepped inside a ring, the Mexican had a tough time due to his ginger locks and pasty skin.
As a young boy, Canelo was regularly teased over his freckles and hair colour until at one moment he could not bear it anymore.
According to the Guardian, at the age of 11 he stunned everyone by fighting back – punching a bigger bully on the nose and busting it open.
“I liked it too much,” he said. “I knew everything would change.”
Canelo faces Saunders at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, United States this weekend in another chance for the Mexican to exhibit his power over the British.
Six times the 30-year-old has faced boxers from England and each time he has sent them back absolutely pulverised, most recently being Callum Smith, brother of Liam Smith who was also beaten.
