Lennox Lewis confirms Mike Tyson talks before showing jacket with rival’s face

Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson are ready to face off in an unexpected rematch 19 years after the London-born heavyweight retained his unified status with a brutal eighth-round knockout.

The Olympic gold medalist with Canada, who remains the last man to hold the undisputed crown in the showpiece division, has admitted that talks are underway.

Tyson, who returned to the ring to take on Roy Jones Jr back in November, made the unexpected announcement last week following talks with Evander Holyfield.

Although there was some doubt over the claim, an interview with Lewis resurfaced showing that he was willing to begin conversions from earlier in the year.

This weekend the 55-year-old was asked if there was any update on the negations, and he said that while there wasn’t anything concrete, wheels are in motion.

The brief topic of conversation came during his punditry on Andy Ruiz Jr's comeback victory over Chris Arreola on Fox Sports, while in attendance in California.

He said: “Not yet, but soon – maybe. We're talking.” Before opening his suit jacket to show the fight poster from their first bout emblazoned inside.

“I’m gonna fight Lennox Lewis. September,” Tyson had told TMZ.

That has seen the comments of Lewis from February resurface: "If the public wanted it then we would probably talk," he told TMZ Sports when approached.

Before adding: "I don't know. I don't really have nothing pushing me in the ring right now. People would love to see that fight but I don't know."

The update leaves the plight of Holyfield in question, with the two time opponent of both Tyson and Lewis keen to take on Iron Mike following his draw with Jones Jr.
