Footage of a young footy fan breaking down after her sporting idol paid her a surprise visit is melting hearts within the football community.
Aspiring footballer Kalani recently sent Carlton star Jess Hosking a handwritten note, thanking the midfielder for taking a photo with her.
“You are an awesome tackler and midfielder,” Kalani wrote in the letter. “I want to be a midfielder and play as great as you do.

“We’ve studied the ladder and think that you still have a chance of getting into the finals, so keep playing hard.
“I liked when you played the Tigers you dyed your sister’s (Richmond midfielder Sarah Hosking) hair purple, I thought that was really funny.
“I wanted to be a netballer until I saw you play football, and now I am a footy girl thanks to you!”

Hosking thought it was only fair to thank Kalani in person.
On Thursday evening, Hosking shared a video to Instagram of the moment she surprised the youngster at her family home.
An unsuspecting Kalani opened the front door and immediately burst into tears when her idol greeted her.
“Hello, I’ve got a present for you,” Hosking said, with a football and guernsey in hand.
The duo embraced as Kalani wiped away tears, her mother filming the touching moment.

Hosking’s sister commented: “I’m not crying, you’re crying.”
Carlton teammate Tayla Harris posted: “You’re the best.”
Carlton narrowly avoided qualifying for the AFLW finals series, placing seventh on the ladder despite a nailbiting one-point victory over the GSW Giants in round nine.
Melbourne will take on the Fremantle Dockers and Collingwood will face North Melbourne in Saturday’s qualifying finals.
