Regular jockey Keagan Latham believes Magic Millions 3YO Guineas winner Eleven Eleven is right on track for another tilt at the Gold Coast raceday as he nears his return later this month.
A date in the Saturday week’s Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill looks set to be the launching pad for another Magic Millions assault for trainer Greg Hickman’s talented four-year-old.
Eleven Eleven has already had success at the Magic Millions meeting — albeit six month later — when he was declared the winner of this year’s 3YO Guineas after Alligator Blood returned a positive swab.
Latham was aboard Eleven Eleven on that day and will continue his association with the gelding when he resumes in the next fortnight as he plots a course towards a likely $1 million Magic Millions Cup (1400m) tilt on January 16.
“If he finds his best form up there again like he did last year he will obviously run really well up there again but you obviously have to take it run by run at this stage,” Latham said.
“I have been lucky enough that the owners have been loyal to me and in seven starts together we haven’t been out of the first three so I would love that to continue.”

Eleven Eleven was nominated for a return in the $1 million The Hunter at Newcastle but was balloted out of a run while he drew wide and was scratched from another race on the card.
Hickman opted to give his son of Fastnet Rock a tune up at his home track instead on Tuesday.
Eleven Eleven was allowed to travel along under his own steam by Latham over 1200m and was able to coast through the line, finishing fifth in the 1200m heat, 1-3/4 lengths off the winner.
“I was really happy with him,” Latham said. “He got balloted out of running in The Hunter and drew wide in another race so it was just a maintenance trial and I wasn’t overly hard on him.
“He’s doing well and I am sure he will run well next week.”
