Trainer Chris Waller will put a hat-trick of Flemington Group 1 wins in his crosshairs when star filly September Run makes her racetrack return in 2021.
After surging to a memorable victory in the Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring, September Run will look to add to her Group 1 tally in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes and Newmarket Handicap at Flemington in the coming months.
September Run has returned to work at Waller’s Rosehill base and the leading trainer believes she will be a major factor again in the Melbourne Group 1s.
The talented daughter of Exceed and Excel already boasts an outstanding straight track record, winning all three attempts at Flemington during last spring.

The three-year-old claimed the Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) and Listed Poseidon Stakes (1100m) before capturing the Group 1 Coolmore against the best sprinter of her generation.
“We will probably head to the Lightning first up with her and then head second up into the Newmarket,” Waller said.
“She is just deadly up the straight.”

A date with the Newmarket Handicap arrives three weeks later on March 6.
Waller confirmed September Run would return to Sydney after the two runs with races like The Galaxy at Rosehill (March 21) a possibility however he was noncommittal on which event she’d feature in.
“She will race in Sydney for sure but not sure what race,” he said.
“I think she will be versatile (to feature the Sydney way) and with those races on so early she has got to target them.”
September Run is on the second line of betting for the TJ Smith Stakes at $11 with TAB.com.au alongside stablemate Nature Strip.
Futures markets for the Melbourne Group 1s are still to be released.
