Zaaki headlines the final field and barrier draw for $1.2m The Q22

Annabel Neasham has another chance at a big race win with impressive galloper Zaaki headlining a field of 16 for Saturday’s The Q22 (2218m) at Eagle Farm.

Zaaki is $1.50 with TAB to notch his third straight win for Neasham and has drawn barrier nine for Saturday’s $1.2m event.

On top of the 2021 Doomben Cup champion, a total of seven Group 1 winners are among the acceptances for the weight-for-age contest.

Premier’s Cup winner Spirit Ridge relished the Eagle Farm track last time out and has drawn well for Saturday’s contest with Josh Parr set to retain the ride.

Master trainer Chris Waller has enjoyed good success in the 2021 Winter Carnival and heads to the weight-for-age contest with last start winner Reloaded along with Doomben Cup placegetter Toffee Tongue while Brandenburg will also get the chance to reverse the result on Zaaki.

Star Kiwi jockey Opie Bosson has made the trip across the ditch to partner 2020 Australian Derby winner Quick Thinker, which was luckless resuming but has drawn out wide again.

It is likely that Saturday’s contest will be the swansong for dual Group 1 winning mare Nettoyer, who is booked for a date with Capitalist later this year.

Of the local brigade includes Barry Baldwin’s cult galloper The Candy Man, along with Vanna Girl and Cellarmaid.
