Dana White kicks Ottman Azaitar OUT of UFC after the fighter and his team give wristbands to someone outside the bubble who then scaled across four balconies to drop a bag off in his hotel room ahead of UFC 257
- Ottman Azaitar was scheduled to fight Matt Frevola on the UFC 257 card
- But a staggering rule breach has instead seen Azaitar kicked out of UFC
- Dana White has instead managed to sort Frevola fighting Arman Tsarukyan
A visibly perplexed Dana White has revealed the staggering story behind the expulsion of fight Ottman Azaitar, who was scheduled to fight in UFC 257.
Azaitar was meant to fight Matt Frevola but the encounter was scrapped on Friday for what the UFC described as ‘a recent violation of the health and safety protocols.’
Speaking after the weigh-in for Conor McGregor’s showdown with Dustin Poirier, UFC supremo White lifted the lid on the full story.
Ottman Azaitar has been kicked out of the UFC after an extraordinary breach of security
A visibly perplexed Dana White revealed the stunning details of Azaitar’s rule break
‘Yeah it’s pretty amazing actually,’ White said. ‘So he and his team cut off their wristbands, gave them to somebody outside the bubble – I don’t know how they even did it – that guy taped them and showed up here with a bag.
‘He went into a room, shimmied across four balconies, went in his room, dropped the abg off, changed his clothes and left.
‘When security tried to stop him he wouldn’t stop either way and it’s just bad. He’s gone, he’s no longer a UFC fighter. And he’s not fighting tonight.’
Speaking to another reporter, White added: ‘One guy got inside the bubble, went in through a room and shimmied down four balconies, got in through his balcony and dropped off a bag of we don’t know what.
‘He changed his clothes and went back outside the bubble. We got everything on camera, we saw the whole thing and how it all went down and pulled his fight and cit him.’
White confirmed that Frevola will now take on Arman Tsarukyan instead.
UFC257 will be headlined by Conor McGregor’s showdown with Dustin Poirier
‘It worked out for him,’ White added. ‘I’m happy for both the guys that we were able to get a fight.’
The 30-year-old Azaitar, who was born in Germany, leaves the UFC with 13 wins from 13 fights.
The UFC 257 bill is topped by McGregor’s first fight in almost a year against Dustin Porier.
