Cleveland Cavaliers’ Isaac Okoro surprises parents with new car after being drafted

The holiday season came early for the Okoro family in 2020.

Not long after the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Isaac Okoro with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft on Wednesday, the former Auburn Tigers standout led his parents and the remainder of the celebrating party outside.

There, Okoro surprised his parents — father Godwin and mother Gloria — with a new Range Rover. Initially, his parents were impressed with their son's taste for himself. Only after Okoro repeated that the car, adorned with a red bow, was for them did they realize the magnitude of his gift. Godwin raced to the passenger door to pose for a picture, his arms outstretched toward the sky in joy.

"It's for me?" he screamed at one point.

Okoro added a special touch for Gloria, stashing a Chanel handbag in the trunk along with a Rolex.

Former Auburn teammate Sharife Cooper captured the scene and shared it on social media.

Okoro, a wing considered one of the top-tier defenders in this draft class, averaged 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds during his one season of college ball. He was also one of a record eight Nigerian players selected in this year's draft.
