New York Giants fans are hoping for Christmas to come early on Monday night as Eli Manning prepares to face the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
The veteran quarterback has not featured for Pat Shurmur's team since Week 2 when he was benched for rookie Daniel Jones in the 14-28 defeat to the Buffalo Bills.
But a high-ankle sprain to the sixth pick of the 2019 NFL Draft has reopened the door for the 38-year-old Manning to return ahead of a massive divisional matchup against the NFC East's second-placed team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The two-time Super Bowl winner does not have a great record against the Birds, going 10-22 against Philadelphia over the course of his career.

Manning has lost his last five outings against the Super Bowl LII victors, as well as nine of the last 10 meetings between the two teams.
The four-time Pro Bowler is also even for his career, racking up 116 wins and 116 losses, so a win over the Giants' fierce rivals on Monday night could allow Manning to leave the Giants at the end of the season with a positive record.

The Eagles are favourites however, with a victory enough to draw them level in the NFC East with leaders the Dallas Cowboys after their disappointing 31-24 defeat to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
But Giants fans are hoping their 16-year veteran can produce an early Christmas present to the fans and inspire his side to one more victory against their rivals and all but end their playoff push.
