Traded for one another on draft night in June, Luke Doncic and Trae Young will be forever linked in NBA conversations.
In their first meeting as pros, both rookies struggled at times but showed flashes of the playmaking that left both teams happy with the trade. Young additionally showed off his resilience to help the Atlanta Hawks rally for a 111-104 win over the Dallas Mavericks in their home opener.
Young shook off an awful start and scored 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks came back from 20 down after the first. After starting 1-of-9 from the field, Young went 2-of-3 in the fourth and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Young hit three free throws with 5:13 left to give the Hawks their first lead of the game at 96-95. He hit a pair of tough shots inside, then went 5-of-6 from the line in the final 44 seconds to seal the win.
