Julio Jones’ AC joint sprain will keep him out of the Atlanta Falcons' Thanksgiving Day game against the New Orleans Saints, and fans are distraught.
Jones was listed as inactive following pregame warmups and will miss the hugely anticipated NFC South clash.
Atlanta coach Dan Quinn had previously insisted that it would be a game time decision whether or not he would play.
The Falcons' All-Pro receiver sustained his injury during last Sunday's 35-22 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a defeat that snapped Atlanta's two-game winning streak.
One of those wins had been a surprise 26-9 win to the Saints in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome just a couple of weeks ago.

Jones has 950 yards for the regular season with four touchdowns as the Falcons have struggled to a 3-8 start.
And fans looking forward to watching the wide receiver on Thanksgiving Day have been left disappointed.
“My cranberry sauce just got cold because of Julio Jones,” one fan wrote on social media.
“Well thats my Thanksgiving ruined, Jones ruled inactive, brilliant,” said another fan.

While another said: “Juuuuuuuulio, nooooooooo. Gutted.”
“We have no chance now without Julio, Saints want revenge,” said another worried Falcons fan.
The 30-year-old Jones has not missed a game this season and has played in all 16 regular season games in each of the previous two seasons.
The Falcons will also be without tight end Austin Hooper, who is second on the team with 56 receptions for 608 yards and six touchdowns.

It remains to be seen how much the absences of Jones and Hooper will affect Quinn’s team in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
A win for the Saints would move them to 10-2 as they look to secure home field advantage once again for the NFL play-offs.
Sean Payton’s team suffered an agonising loss in last season’s NFL Championship game.
The Saints lost to the LA Rams after they were not given an obvious pass interference decision late in the game.
