Luka Doncic ‘better than LeBron James at 20’, says Shannon Sharpe

Luka Doncic has been dubbed “better than LeBron James” was at the same ago by Shannon Sharpe.

The Dallas Mavericks star scored 27 points in their 110-106 loss to Sacramento Kings on Monday.

And it puts the 20-year-old third in the NBA standings with 689 overall from 23 games, 219 behind James Harden.

He earned praise from Hall of Famer Steve Nash in an interview with NBA Cafe Barcelona.

“I think he’s maybe the best 20-year-old the NBA has ever seen,” the former LA Lakers man said.

And Sharpe, who presents Skip and Shannon: Undisputed with Bayless, compared the Slovenian to three-time champion James.

He said: “Luke Doncic is the real deal.

“He’s a superstar, Skip. He’s the real deal.”

But Skip asks him if the 20-year-old compares to LeBron at the same age.

All the former NFL man does is sit with a smile on his face.

“Before 20? Yeah, I’ll say that,” Sharpe replies.

Bayless is left in shock at the claim.

Holding his arms out, the host says: “Stop, time out.

“Hold the press.

“You’re saying right now Doncic is better than LeBron was at 20?”

And Sharpe has another quick reply to his co-host.

The 51-year-old says: “Have you seen what he’s doing?

“When LeBron came into the league, it was different.

“It was physical but now it’s all about space.

“Can you imagine LeBron now with the way guys get to the basket? He would have just 30 points.”

Doncic also earned praise from Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal, who said the Mavericks man he was “scary” and destined to be a great.

The guard joined the league last season after four seasons with Real Madrid.

He won the Liga ACB in 2018 before being drafted in the first pick third found by Atlanta Hawks, who then traded him for Trae Young.

Doncic will be back on the court at 2pm tonight against the Detroit Pistons.
