In what should be little surprise, Zion Williamson is the odds-on favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award. The New Orleans Pelicans' forward and top pick in the draft is also the most popular choice among NBA rookies, according to a recent anonymous survey conducted by the league.
However, the draft class believes a different Duke star is set up to enjoy a better career than Williamson. No, it's not RJ Barrett of the New York Knicks, either. It's the Atlanta Hawks' Cam Reddish.
At Duke, Reddish mostly played third-fiddle behind Williamson and Barrett. The Hawks selected him with the 10th overall pick. But despite five percent of rookies predicting that he will take home the Rookie of the Year hardware — compared to the 35 percent plurality Williamson received — 19 percent of the group surveyed believes Reddish will have the best overall career.
