NFL fans mock 2020 draft plans as picks to be taken by boat to Las Vegas stage

NFL fans have mocked plans to position the 2020 Draft Red Carpet Stage on the water in front of the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Sin City will host the NFL draft for the first time ever in April, with the Oakland Raiders relocating to the Nevada city for the start of the 2020 NFL season.

Jon Gruden's team will move into Allegiant Stadium ahead of the next campaign, but the city of Las Vegas will announce itself to the NFL calendar with a three-day draft from April 23-25, which will include free activities and live entertainment for the travelling fans.

The main stage, which will host the selections and headlining acts for the weekend, will be positioned next to the Caesars Forum, while the adjacent NFL Draft Experience Stage will feature performances by acts from Las Vegas and NFL-themed experiences.

But the stage most fans noticed first was the NFL Draft Red Carpet Stage, which will be built on the water in front of the famous Fountains of Bellagio.

Attending prospects will be transported to the carpet by boat ahead of the draft, but NFL fans are already worried the water could cause mayhem in Vegas.

While a Cincinnati Bengals fan added: "I swear if [Joe] Burrow drowns and we don’t get our franchise QB…"

A third supporter wrote: "I really hope someone falls in."

Other fans couldn't resist the chance to make fun of some of their NFL rivals after the announcement was made.

One supporter tweeted: "How do they intend to keep rodents and Jets fans out of the water?"

While another fan wrote: "Whoever the Browns draft will probably drown or something."

  • Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes 'already one of the greatest players ever seen' in NFL

A further fan added: "#GoBucs draft picks will have their own boat with a cannon where they rob and loot the other draft picks."

Other fans were less able to see the funny side and voiced their complaints over the stage, which is claimed will add even more time on to an already long three-day event.

One supporter tweeted: "That will only add about an hour onto an already long first round."
