Patrick Mahomes wrote himself into the history books in Kansas City Chiefs’ win – but rival fans were furious.
The AFC West side secured their place in the NFL playoffs with a 23-16 win over the New England Patriots.
A stunning second quarter saw the Chiefs score 17 points unanswered before holding Tom Brady’s side at bay.
And fans have a lot to thank Mahomes for, who locked horns with the legendary Patriots quarterback.
The 24-year-old made a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman as well as finding 283 passing yards.
This was 114 more than Brady, who made his own pass to Julian Edelman.

And it emerged that the Chiefs quarterback made his own piece of history at the Gillette Stadium.
A post on Twitter by SportsCenter this morning read: “Patrick Mahomes is the first QB under 25 to win a regular-season road game in New England since 2000.”
The last man to do this was Peyton Manning while playing for Indianapolis Colts in a 24-16 win.
But Patriots fans have a different take on Mahomes’ stat.

“Thanks to the refs,” they said.
Bill Belichick’s side were denied a touchdown in the fourth quarter with 13 minutes to do.
Brady found rookie N’Keal Harry on the wing – but officials said he was out of bounds.
Replay footage, though, made this dubious but nothing could be done as the Patriots were out of challenges and it was not called as a touchdown, meaning there was no automatic review.

Another supporter commented: “He didn’t win, the refs did.”
While a third held nothing back, saying: “Fire the refs.”
But Chiefs fans responded brilliantly.
“Pats fans blaming the refs – the hypocrisy is thick,” one wrote.
Another commented: “It’s about time the refs screwed the Patriots over.
