Victor Oladipo settles Lakers vs Clippers ‘better team’ debate

Indiana Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo has settled the debate on the best team in Los Angeles.

The Clippers may be the bookies’ favourites to win the NBA Championship but they find themselves behind the Lakers in the Western Conference.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis have led the Lakers to a 23-3 record and are 3.5 games ahead of Kawhi Leonard’s team.

There have been accusations that James and Davis have benefited from an easier schedule while the Clippers have controversially load managed Leonard.

Oladipo, however, believes the Lakers are playing superior basketball to their rivals.

“The Lakers probably would be the better team,” he told Skip and Shannon. “They're playing better right now.

“The load management is a different thing so the Clippers aren’t fully loaded every game.

“I’m looking forward to the Christmas Day game.”

The Clippers boosted their roster in the offseason by acquiring Leonard and George.

Leonard has played 20 of the Clippers’ 26 games, with occasional breaks allowing him to rest, with the team keeping one eye on the postseason playoffs.

George, traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder, has played 16 games after missing the start of the season through injury.

When asked about the Clippers’ decision to load manage their stars, Oladipo said: “It’s a long year. They doing what’s best for their team, their players. They think that’s what’s gong to work for them.

“At the end of the year, anything is possible.”

The Clippers are in action against the Chicago Bulls next while the Lakers play the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.
