Fantasy Injury Updates: Stefon Diggs, Randall Cobb, Allen Robinson, more WRs affecting Week 9 start ’em, sit ’em calls

Let’s start with some good news: Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans and Cooper Kupp will be active despite dealing with injuries last week. Now, the bad: Keke Coutee and Geronimo Allison will be inactive, and Stefon Diggs, Randall Cobb, Allen Robinson, Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, Kenny Stills, and Antonio Callaway are all “questionable” and destined to affect Week 9 fantasy start ’em, sit ’em decisions until the final injury updates before tonight’s Packers-Patriots game.

We’re here to help, updating this post with the latest news throughout the day. For more on key RB injuries, such as Melvin Gordon, Chris Carson, and Dalvin Cook, go here. Is Stefon Diggs playing Week 9?

A rib injury has Stefon Diggs’ availability for Sunday’s game against the Lions in doubt, according to ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported late Saturday night that Diggs is unlikely to play.

Because Minnesota has a Week 10 bye, it makes sense for Diggs to sit this one out. If he’s active, it will be tough to sit him, though there’s always concern he’s merely used as a decoy. For now, don’t count on Diggs. Aldrick Robinson and Laquon Treadwell seem most likely to see more targets for Minnesota, but neither is a recommended fantasy start.

Is Randall Cobb playing Sunday night?

Cobb (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis all week, so despite his “questionable” tag, he seems likely to play against the Patriots on Sunday night.

With Geronimo Allison (hamstring, groin) already ruled “out”, Cobb should be in line for more targets. Marquez Valdes-Scantling will eat into his looks, but Cobb still carries WR3 value this week despite not doing much this season.

Allen Robinson injury update

After missing most of the past two games, Robinson (groin) is “questionable” for Sunday’s contest in Buffalo. He was able to get in a limited practice on Friday, but he will likely be a game-time decision.

The Bills have been strong against WRs this year, allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position. Robinson is a risky play even if he’s active.

Quincy Enunwa, Robby Anderson injury news

Both Jets receivers missed last week because of ankle injuries (Enunwa missed Week 7, too), and neither practiced this week until getting in limited sessions on Friday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported late Saturday that the Jets are “optimistic” about both, but they will each be game-time decisions.

A tough matchup against the Dolphins means neither should be in fantasy lineups even if they’re active. Jermaine Kearse will likely function as the top target for Sam Darnold, but he remains nothing more than a FLEX option in PPR leagues. Chris Herndon remains in play as a borderline TE1 if Enunwa and Anderson are out.

Is Kenny Stills playing Week 9?

Stills (groin) returned to limited practice on Friday and is “questionable” for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

Stills would be too risky to trust if he’s active — but so would popular waiver pickup DeVante Parker. If Stills is out, Parker would still be in play as a potential WR3.
