Former “The Bachelor” star Jade Roper Tolbert won a $1 million daily fantasy football contest this past weekend, but she may not get to enjoy any of her winnings.
Tolbert and her husband, former ‘Bachelor’ contestant Tanner Tolbert, are being investigated by daily fantasy website DraftKings for possibly coordinating their gameplay to circumvent entry limits and maximize chances of winning, according to ESPN.
The husband-wife duo each submitted the maximum of 150 lineups in DraftKings’ “Millionare Maker” contest, but just two of their 300 total lineups were duplicates.
The Tolberts say they were not working together to avoid duplicates, and Tanner Tolbert told ESPN the couple is “confident that DraftKings will determine the same.”
“We take the integrity and fairness of our contests very seriously and are looking into this matter,” a DraftKings spokesperson said in a statement.
In DraftKings’ community guidelines, “team-building complementary lineups which serve to work together AND executing a strategy that may create any unfair advantage over individual play,” and “entering the maximum number of entries in a contest, type of contest, or event, and having a 3rd party, regardless of their relationship, put in additional entries for you,” are both listed as “unacceptable behaviors.”
The Tolberts’ lineups split the quarterbacks in action during wild-card weekend. Jade stuck with AFC QBs, while Tanner put NFC signal-callers on his teams. Other than that, many of their lineups were the same.
“I thought Drew Brees and Carson Wentz would have big days,” Tanner Tolbert told ESPN. “Obviously, I was wrong. But Jade definitely wanted to go with the other quarterbacks. I think partly she likes rooting against me.”
