We hadn’t seen Gonzaga in an actual game for a couple of weeks. But the No. 1 team certainly looked the part on Saturday when they finally got back on the court.
The Bulldogs easily retain the top ranking in the USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll following their impressive win against Iowa over the weekend, receiving 25 of the 30 first-place votes cast this week. Three of the Zags’ four victories have come against other teams ranked in the top six.
No. 2 Baylor was also dominant in its return game over the weekend. The Bears opened Big 12 play with a win against Kansas State and retain the second spot with the other five first-place votes. Villanova is back up to No. 3, followed by Kansas, Iowa and West Virginia.

Among those moving up, No. 12 Rutgers and No. 18 Michigan improved five places. Missouri vaults four positions to No. 14.
No. 22 Xavier and No. 24 Oregon join the poll, replacing Louisville and San Diego State.
