Are you ready, kids?
Play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle, flanked by Nate Burleson and Gabriella Nevaeh Green, headed up an alternate broadcast of the Bears vs. Saints NFL wild-card game on Sunday aired exclusively on Nickelodeon — that’s right, the cable network for kids and home of Doug Funnie, SpongeBob SquarePants and Invader Zim.
Featuring ample references to shows past, SpongeBob and oodles and oodles of slime, the Nick production, which was designed to educate younger viewers about football, had an intriguing side effect: Football fans from all over, who were served up a bit of nostalgia on the TV, took notice of it.
While some criticized the program for being a bit less Nick-themed than expected, there was still more than enough zany content to light Twitter abuzz.

And it wouldn’t be the NFL if there wasn’t an unfortunate hot-mic moment, with Bears wideout Cordarrelle Patterson letting an F-bomb rip on the field.

Just missing the cut: “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”, “Ren & Stimpy” and “The Angry Beavers.”
