Fantasy football owners have a love/hate relationship with New England. We love the consistently great offenses; we hate the secrecy regarding injury updates, unpredictable running back usage, and, players who produce when everyone sits them and no-show when everyone starts them. Ahead of Week 9’s Sunday Night Football Packers-Patriots game, New England listed 13 players as “questionable”, including Rob Gronkowski, Sony Michel, Julian Edelman, and Josh Gordon. Fantasy owners will be looking for active/inactive updates right up until the official injury report is released.
We’ll keep you up to date with the latest news on these players throughout the day. For the latest on injured RBs, including Melvin Gordon, Dalvin Cook, and Chris Carson, check here. For word on banged-up WRs, such as Stefon Diggs, Allen Robinson, and Sunday night participate Randall Cobb, go here. Week 9 Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker
Is Rob Gronkowski playing Sunday night?
Gronk (back, ankle) played last week after missing Week 7, so he seems likely to suit up against the Packers despite being listed as “questionable”.
Once one of fantasy’s most bankable commodities (when active), Gronk hasn’t scored since Week 1 and is averaging a relatively modest (for him) 64 yards per game, which includes four games with 51 yards or fewer. It’s still too early to bench an active Gronk, so have him in your lineups despite the fact he’s not at full health.
WEEK 9 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end
Is Sony Michel playing Week 9?
Michel (knee) made progress late last week despite being inactive, and he managed to practice on a limited basis this week. He’s “questionable” for this week’s contest against Green Bay, but he’s clearly trending in the right direction.
It’s tough to recommend starting Michel if you have viable backups, as there’s enough uncertainty about his status to make us nervous, but if you’re thin at RB, it looks like he’ll be worth waiting for. If you’re going to hold out for him, make sure you have a decent RB/FLEX option you can sub in. Cordarelle Patterson received the bulk of the carries for the Patriots last week, though it’s important to note he’s only WR eligible in Yahoo leagues. Jamaal Williams is only owned in 22 percent of Yahoo leagues, so he’d be the best RB option if you’re in a bind. Marquez Valdes-Scantling (25-percent owned) would be the best FLEX option.

Is Julian Edelman playing Sunday night?
Edelman (ankle) practiced in limited fashion on Thursday and Friday, so his “questionable” designation doesn’t seem like anything to worry about.
As always, we have to throw out the obligatory “it’s the Patriots…” disclaimer, but it looks like you can feel safe having Edelman in your lineup. If he’s a surprise scratch, be ready to grab someone like Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chris Hogan, Michael Gallup, or another WR from the prime-time games.
WEEK 9 DFS GPP LINEUPS: Yahoo | FanDuel | DraftKings
Is Josh Gordon playing Sunday night?
Gordon (hamstring) has been “questionable” for every Patriots game this season, but he’s never been in serious danger of missing action.
He remains a viable WR3 in fantasy leagues because of his upside, but as we’ve seen most of this season, he’s no sure thing to produce.
