Reports: Saints to be without entire RB group due to close contact with Alvin Kamara

The New Orleans Saints will face a running back dilemma on Sunday against the Panthers.

As a result of star Alvin Kamara's positive COVID-19 test, the Saints' fellow running backs will also miss Sunday's game due to close contact with Kamara that put the other backs at high risk, according to Fox Sports and ESPN reports.

New Orleans running backs Latavius Murray, Dwayne Washington, Michael Burton and running backs coach Joel Thomas will all be unavailable Sunday vs. the Panthers due to contact tracing.

The Saints will be put in a precarious scenario similar to the Denver Broncos' situation earlier in the season when all of the team's quarterbacks were all ruled out.

Ty Montgomery, who mostly plays receiver and is on special teams, will take over a running back role for the Saints while a practice squad player will also be moved up, according to Fox Sports.

Kamara tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday before being placed on the team's reserve/COVID-19 list Friday. NFL rules state that players who come in contact with someone who tested positive must isolate for five days before they are able to return – even with a negative test.
