Connecticut lost by 30 points Saturday against Tulsa.
But coach Randy Edsall still ended up a winner.
According to USA TODAY’s review of Edsall’s contract, the UConn coach will still earn a $2,000 bonus because his team scored first in the 49-19 loss. (In fact, UConn was up 10-0 before Tulsa went on a scoring tear.)
This is the second consecutive week that UConn has scored first. The Huskies got on the board with a first-quarter touchdown against Massachusetts last weekend … then lost 22-17.
Edsall earns a $2,000 bonus when Connecticut does any of the following: scores first, wins the turnover margin, has more tackles for loss or has better red-zone scoring efficiency.
