Lance Stroll net worth: How much does the F1 star earn?

Turkish Grand Prix: Lance Stroll reacts to securing pole position

Lance Stroll impressed with Racing Point last season and has retained his seat for the 2021 season, with the team now rebranded as Aston Martin. The Canadian finished the campaign in 11th place in the drivers’ standings with 75 points. Over the course of the season, he secured two podiums while also claiming the first pole position of his career at the Turkish Grand Prix.

Stroll, though, looks back on the 2020 season as a year of missed opportunities.

“We definitely had a very strong car, the team has done an incredible job over the winter to develop this car,” he said.

“From my side, I don’t think it was the smoothest year.

“There’s been some big highlights, the pole was great, two podiums but I think we had a lot more podium opportunities and just points on the table in general that we didn’t pick up if I look back at the season in total.

“Hungary was an opportunity for a podium but there was some wet weather that mixed things up, we ended up finishing fourth.

“Mugello, we definitely were on for a podium. We were P4 and hunting down P3 with much better pace there.

“I think Turkey was a major missed opportunity, we were leading the race for 30 laps and finished the race ninth in the end with car damage.

“There’s quite a few races I think that slipped away from us and then of course, I got Covid.

“There were some missed opportunities [in 2020] so that’s a little bit frustrating but that’s part of the sport.

“It’s all about highs and lows. Enjoying the highs and accepting that sometimes there are some rough patches, and unfortunately in the second part of the season, we’ve had a few rough patches.”

The 22-year-old driver is worth $50m (£37m), according to Celebrity Net Worth.

He is the son of billionaire Canadian businessman Lawrence Stroll, who also is part-owner of the Aston Martin F1 team and has an estimated net worth of $2.6bn (£1.9bn).

In a new era for the team, Stroll will be partnered with four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel in 2021.

Team boss Otmar Szafnauer said: “He will raise the team to a different level and I’m sure it will be 1,000 little things that he will help us improve that can then take us to a new level.

“I think he’ll bring with him a world champion work ethic and that’s what we all want to learn from.

“Everyone’s going to have to raise their game and he will be a great mentor for Lance too.

“He’s still relatively young and very fast, and it’s great for Lance to learn from a four-time world champion.”
