Lewis Hamilton wears ‘Arrest the Cops who killed Breonna Taylor" T-shirt

Lewis Hamilton wore a t-shirt with the words "Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor" following his Tuscan Grand Prix win.

The Mercedes driver stood on the top step of the podium after taking the chequered flag at Mugello.

And just as he had before the race donned a T-shirt that also featured a picture of the 26-year-old on the back with the words "say her name".

Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman, was killed by police officers who burst into her apartment.

Hamilton, who is the sport's only black driver, has been particularly outspoken against racial injustice and diversity on the grid.

He has been a leader in the "Black Lives Matter" campaign that has aimed to raise awareness.

And the Mercedes star, who extended his world championship lead after winning a race that was twice red flagged, referenced Taylor in his post-race interview.

He said: "It was all a bit of daze. It was like three races in one day. Just incredibly tough today. This track is phenomenal and the heat and keeping Valtteri behind was not easy.

"All those restarts total focus was needed. It was really, really hard. Valtteri appeared out of nowhere when I saw Danny was behind.

"I didn't want him to have DRS. My heart is racing. It is crazy to be here and to have 90 grand prixs.

"Justice for Breonna Taylor."

Mercedes secured a third 1-2 finish off the season and have now won eight of the season's nine races.

Alex Albon recorded his first podium finish ahead of Daniel Ricciardo's Renault.

Ferrari, who were celebrating their 1000th race, endured another forgetful afternoon at the track they own.

Charles Leclerc finished in eighth with Sebastian Vettel coming home in tenth.
