The Broncos have officially approached Cameron Smith about a move to Red Hill after it was revealed they have the salary cap room to accommodate the Storm legend.
Smith broke his silence at a lunch this week to reveal he has “a big decision to make” over his future, which remains up in the air three weeks out from the first game of the season.
The Courier Mail reported Brisbane have formally approached Cameron Smith with coach Kevin Walters revealing the Broncos have the room to move in their salary cap.

The Courier Mail confirmed Smith has received a series of approaches from the Broncos since Walters took the helm at Red Hill before Christmas.
Brisbane have since used a third-party associate to maintain a line of inquiry with Smith as the Storm legend weighs up playing on in 2021.
The 37-year-old’s career in Melbourne is considered over after Jesse Bromwich and Dale Finucane were named co-captains for Melbourne in 2021.

After 430 NRL games Smith faces the prospect of playing for a rival for the first time in his career.
The Titans were considered the most likely destination with Smith moving his family to the Gold Coast after the Storm’s Grand Final win last year.
However Titans Head of Performance and Culture and Smith’s former Origin coach Mal Meninga has repeatedly denied the club is in talks with the former Maroons skipper.

At this stage the Broncos are yet to make an official offer to Smith while they await for the former Kangaroos skipper to make a call on his future.
It was expected that Meninga and Walters would remain silent on their intentions, but the Brisbane mentor has officially flagged the Broncos’ interest in the legendary No.9.
It comes after legends Ben Ikin and Michael Ennis revealed they believe Smith is set to continue his career into a 20th season.
“I hope he plays at the Titans and my guess is if he does play that’s where it will be.
“He lives on the Gold Coast and he is doing a little bit of recalibrating with his family at the moment because they have relocated and started a new life.”
There is just under three weeks until the first round of the 2021 season, but despite what would be a limited preparation Ikin has no doubt Smith can get his body ready in time.
“Absolutely without a question,” Ikin replied when asked if Smith can play off a short pre-season.

“He’s that good and he is a man who sets high standards for himself, so he would have been working very hard to keep himself fit if playing again was in the back of his mind.”
“Both clubs are desperate for leadership,” Ennis said.
“If you look at the Broncos someone like Cameron Smith and the pressure he would take off young Dearden and Milford would be enormous.
“His craft with Tevita Pangai and Matt Lodge and those type of players he would be enormously beneficial.
“Then if you look at the Titans and the forward pack that they have now put together and guys like AJ Brimson.
“The one thing they need is someone to take pressure off Fogarty and Ash Taylor. So both sides would love to have him.
“Out of respect for Cameron both Kevvie and Mal given their relationship they will just give him the time that he needs and when he is ready he will let them know and they will make way.”
