Sydney Roosters relocate round 12 fixture against the Canberra Raiders in Perth

The Sydney Roosters have been forced to relocate their round 12 fixture against the Canberra Raiders in Perth due to Western Australia’s ongoing COVID-19 stance.

The Roosters announced the fixture against the Raiders has been relocated to Central Coast Stadium, Gosford.

Following consultation with VenuesWest and other West Australian authorities, the Roosters have relocated the fixture originally scheduled to be played at HBF Park Perth due to the current COVID-19 landscape and shifting nature of border closures.

As consequence, the Roosters will now play an additional home game at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in 2021, with the club’s round 5 match against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks relocated from Central Coast Stadium to the SCG.

Roosters chief operating officer Jarrod Johnstone hopes the club can return to Perth next season.

“While we’re disappointed to not be taking a game to Perth in 2021, we have determined this as the best course of action given the ever-changing COVID-19 landscape,” Johnstone said.

“Having said that, we’re committed to taking a home game to Perth in 2022, and we will keep Roosters members and stakeholders updated with any future updates.”

The Roosters continue their preparation for the 2021 season on Saturday with a trial game against Canberra at Leichhardt Oval.

Coach Trent Robinson is expected to name a full-strength side in the final trial before their NRL campaign starts against Manly at the SCG on March 13.
