Antonio Conte availability splits Man Utd fan base in decision to stick or twist

Antonio Conte's availability is a big sticking point for some Manchester United fans who want current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer axed after Tuesday night's defeat.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 by BSC Young Boys in their Champions League curtain-raiser with Jesse Lingard gifting the Swiss side a 95th-minute winner.

There is an increased expectation around Old Trafford this season following the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

And the shock defeat to Young Boys has not aided confidence in Solskjaer with serial winner Conte without a job following his depature from Serie A giants Inter Milan at the end of last season.

The Italian guided the Nerazzurri to their first league title in 11 years before quitting due to the club's depleting financial situation.

Conte wanted assurances he could build upon his Scudetto winning side but Inter needed to sell-off their most valuable assets to balance the books.

Since his depature, Achraf Hakimi was sold to PSG, Matteo Politano was flogged to Napoli and most notably Romelu Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge for a whopping £97.5m.
