Arsenal have been put on alert after transfer target Dominik Szoboszlai scored an incredible solo goal – days after his agent leaked “real interest”.
The Gunners have been impressed by the Hungarian midfielder, who has scored give goals and made nine assists this season for RB Salzburg.
And the 20-year-old’s agent, Matyas Esterhazy, has confirmed the north London side’s interest.
After being asked about Szoboszlai’s situation during a business panel discussion at the offices of the Hungarian edition of Forbes magazine, his representative replied: “Arsenal’s interest is real.”
Footage has now emerged of the midfielder showing exactly what he can do.
In the clip, the 90 minutes are up and Hungary are drawing 1-1 with Iceland in their Euro 2021 play-off match.
Jon Bodvarsson has a shot on target that is blocked and the ball falls to Roland Sallai.
Flicking it to David Siger, the midfielder finds Szoboslai running down the left wing – and he turns on the afterburners.
The RB Salzburg man runs past two players to reach the outside of the penalty box with a lung-busting run.
And his driven shot flies past goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson, hitting the right post before bouncing into the back of the net.
Hungary’s team goes wild and swamps Szoboslai as their place in the finals next summer is confirmed.
This footage was shared on Twitter, where the Gunners faithful expressed their desire to see the midfielder playing in north London.
“Sign him Arsenal, he is a winner,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “This is the guy we really need at Arsenal.”
While a third compared him to a midfielder at the club, with: “The way he picked the ball up and progressed was very [Mesut] Ozil like. He looks like a real talent.”
And a fourth added: “Szoboszlai in January please. It’s a no brainer really.”
With a fifth simply writing: “Hopefully Arsenal’s next signing.”
Szoboszlai is thought to be valued at around £26m though his price may rise having already scored two Champions League goals this season.
It comes as Mikel Arteta is already blooding another young talent, described as the “next Zlatan Ibrahimovic”, into the first team.
