Arsenal linked next Mesut Ozil in Yusuf Yazici who is honoured by talk

Arsenal could be about to sign a new Mesut Ozil in Lille midfielder Yusuf Yazici.

The former Real Madrid midfielder is out of contract in the summer and is set to depart following seven full seasons at the club after slipping down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.

Although he was included in their first-team photo for the campaign last week, the 32-year-old was left out of their Premier League and Europa League playing squads.

His exit is set to free up a huge chunk of wages at the Emirates, and some of those could be used in signing 23-year-old playmaker Yazici.

The Turkey international continues to impress since joining Lille from Trabzonspor, scoring eight goals and setting up five more in his first 37 appearances for the club.

Six of those goals have come from trebles against both Sparta Prague and AC Milan in the Europa League, a tournament in which he could end up facing the Gunners.

The player’s agent, Adem Cebeci, has even stated that they are both honoured by links to the club.

“In Lille, he works with the best. Yusuf feels right at home here to work on his weaknesses – speed and speed,” Hurriyet report.

“They want to use his full potential and sell him to even bigger clubs for a lot of money. We are honoured that big clubs have had an eye on him.”

The Sun had reported the alleged interest last week, with Lille boss Christophe Galtier recently praising the player.

He explained: “Yazici brings something different to our play with his left foot, his shot and his vision.

“When he is between the lines, he has his vision and the quality of his left foot.

“He’s obsessed with the goal. It’s important for him and the team, I’m very happy for him.

“Recently, he has not been happy, and I can tell you that he is happy in the dressing room.”
