Arsenal star Trossard’s four-word response sums up early impressions

Arsenal star Leandro Trossard has become an immediate favourite with Gunners supporters. And it appears he feels the same way about his new club.

Trossard joined in the January transfer window after Arsenal failed to land top target Mykhaylo Mudryk. A deal was wrapped up pretty quickly with Brighton for less than a third of the price Mudryk would have cost.

Arsenal supporters may have been underwhelmed at the time after months of hoping and expecting Mudryk to sign. However, Trossard has hit the ground running as well as anyone could have expected.

It is clear he is loving life in north London. His agent, Josy Comhair, spoke about how his client is settling in this week.

And he gave journalist Freddie Paxton a clear verdict. Comhair said Trossard is happy with how he has started and is now at the “club of his dreams”.

Trossard has scored just one goal so far in his 10 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal. However, he has already registered five assists.

Three of those came in the first half of Sunday’s 3-0 win at Fulham. He became the first player to achieve such a feat away from home in the Premier League era.

Trossard has played both from the left and centrally, providing invaluable versatility in the absence of both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. The biggest compliment you can give him is that his form means Jesus may not get a path straight back into the starting XI following his recovery from injury.

Trossard has plenty of experience in the Premier League and netted a hat-trick at Anfield earlier this season. Arteta knew what he was buying and was seriously impressed with his performance at the weekend.

Arteta said: “When we talk about composure and finding the right pass and finding the right colour when it’s looking really blurry in the box, he’s the opposite. He got three assists and could have scored two.

“I think he was really impressive. Not only that, he had an injury three days ago which could have taken a week, or another 10 days, but he was really willing to come back early and the doctors and medical staff did a lot of good work to get that.

“It makes a big difference in the team. We needed him today and his contribution was superb.”
