Arteta forced into Arsenal transfer rethink due to Emile Smith Rowe emergence

Arsenal have reportedly decided against making a move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco.

That is because they have been impressed by the recent form of young Emile Smith Rowe.

The 20-year-old has highly impressed in recent weeks after being given a run of games, starting in all three of Arsenal’s recent wins against West Brom, Chelsea and Brighton.

Arteta was believed to be a big supporter of Isco and would have loved to snap up the 28-year-old if he became available, but AS claim that he now thinks that would be an unnecessary move following the emergence of Smith Rowe.

Arteta was highly complimentary of Smith Rowe’s performance earlier this week, insisting he is exactly the sort of player the club needs at this stage.

“He is a player that I really liked since the first day I watched him,” the Arsenal manager said earlier this week.

“Just the way he moves, how intelligent he is with the positions he takes and his work rate – don’t underestimate that.

“He works really hard for the team and he had a really bad injury this year and hasn’t really trained with us at all.
