Turkish club Besiktas have reportedly decided against taking up the permanent option in Dele Alli loan contract, having been unimpressed by the former Tottenham and England star. The 26-year-old was sent out on loan from Everton this campaign as he struggled to get into the team under Frank Lampard, but has seen his career fall even further amid disappointments in Turkey.
The Athletic have claimed that while Besiktas have an option to sign Alli permanently for £8million, they have decided against taking up the deal and he will return to Everton in the summer. There was no obligation for the Turkish Super Lig side to sign Alli in his loan contract, after he was told to find a new club by the Toffees in the summer.
Alli, who has been capped 37 times by England, has fallen out of favour with Besiktas boss Senol Gunes and Turkish outlet Takvim have claimed that Gunes does not plan to include him in matchday squads for the remainder of the season and he will watch from the stands until he can return to Everton.
Current Toffees boss Sean Dyche was asked about the prospect of Alli returning, as he is likely to have a lack of suitors willing to pay his current salary with his contract up in 2024.

“I’ll wait to find out [about Dele] during the international break,” Dyche said in his pre-match press conference before Everton take on Chelsea. “We’ll have to wait and see and judge in the summer. We’ll pick that up during the international break.”
While Alli’s former MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has explained that the midfielder is “excited” about finding a new path next season, his career has come to a standstill and former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has even previously urged him to consider retiring from football after a similarly underwhelming spell at Goodison.

“Dele needs to answer some serious question, for himself, no one else. He has to ask: Do you want to play professional football, or are you not cut out for it?” Collymore wrote in his column for The Mirror in 2022.
“If not, don’t do that, think of conning clubs into giving you a year, based on past reputations, and drift down the ranks. Everton, to Norwich, to the Championship. If no, then get to the end of your contract, and move on with life.
“If he doesn’t want to be a pro footballer, get your head down. I don’t think his clothing, or hair, or what he drives make a big difference but they can allude to a person’s character. I wonder what he is trying to portray. That he wants to be a bit bohemian and has given up on the life of a footballer?”
