Chelsea in advanced talks for Real Madrid ace as Marina Granovskaia close to next big deal

Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid after a twist in the chase for Leicester City ace Ben Chilwell. Frank Lampard is desperate to sign a left-back but negotiations with the Foxes for Chilwell have proved challenging prompting the change of target.

Chelsea have been left stunned by Leicester’s demands for a fee in the region of £80million for the England international, who has four years left on his contract at the King Power Stadium.

The Blues look set to take their summer spending past the £150m barrier by signing Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen so Chilwell’s price tag is a major problem, despite Lampard being a big fan.

Reguilon has emerged as an active alternative for Stamford Bridge bosses after a brilliant season on loan with Sevilla.

Despite his brilliant form, Real Madrid are open to selling the 23-year-old due to their need to raise funds amid their financial concerns.

Premier League done deals: Every confirmed transfer this summer so far

Zinedine Zidane opted to send Reguilon to Sevilla last summer after snapping up Ferland Mendy from Lyon as the club’s long-term replacement for Marcelo.

Sevilla are eager to keep their loanee but ESPN claim he prefers a move to the Premier League.

Reguilon is attracting plenty of interest from England after enquiries from Manchester United and Tottenham. Everton are also keen, despite the presence of Lucas Digne in their squad.

Chelsea transfer negotiator Marina Granovskaia is in discussions over a loan swoop or a permanent deal worth around €25m (£22.5m).

Reguilon is represented by Philippe Coutinho and Willian’s agent Kia Joorabchian.

Chelsea have already added Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to their squad ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

A new goalkeeper is on the agenda after Kepa Arrizabalaga was dropped to the bench for the final game of the league season.

Chelsea also fancy a new central defender, with West Ham’s Declan Rice high on Lampard’s wish list.
