Chelsea transfer target Declan Rice will be flattered by the Blues interest in him, and will be considering the move more having seen their £230million spending spree so far this summer. That’s the opinion of Danny Mills, who believes the West Ham ace will now be considering his options.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is currently at loggerheads with Stamford Bridge chiefs over Rice.
Lampard wants the star to be the final piece in his new-look squad, having already spent an astronomical amount to improve his side.
The Blues have already spent big to improve their defence, bringing in Ben Chilwell for £50m and Thiago Silva on a free.
Their attack has been the area they’ve strengthened the most, with moves for Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz costing a collective £170m.

But the one area they haven’t bothered with so far is the middle of midfield, despite Rice being a target throughout the window.
West Ham are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old, and slapped a £70m price tag on his head early on in the summer.
West Ham started their season poorly on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Newcastle at home.
Rice put in a disappointing performance, and was criticised – along with the rest of his team-mates – for looking uninterested.

And Mills believes he’ll be looking at his position at the London Stadium and considering his options now that Chelsea are interested.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former defender explained Rice’s situation at West Ham and urged him to make the move to west London.
“You’ll always be flattered,” he said.
“It’s always interesting especially when you look at the interesting players that Chelsea have pulled together over the window.

“Suddenly you’re thinking ‘I am currently going to be in a team that is a bottom half team that is fighting relegation perhaps as opposed to a team that is going to be in the Champions League and challenging.’”
Chelsea are set to continue spending despite their incredible outlay, and are days away from finalising a deal to sign Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Lampard wants a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, and the Blues have agreed a £27.5m deal with Rennes for his services.
However, the Ligue 1 side want Fikayo Tomori on loan included in the deal, which is holding up the announcement.
