Ben Foster has revealed how Cristiano Ronaldo refused to attend Man United's Christmas party during his time at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese ace joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon as an 18-year-old in 2003 and spent six seasons with United.

He made 292 appearances and scored 118 goals for the club prior to his mega £80million move to Real Madrid in 2019.

Ronaldo has been known throughout his career for his faultless dedication and his incredible professionalism.

And according to Foster, who was team-mates with Ronaldo for four years at Old Trafford, that even extended to missing out on United's Christmas party.

The Watford goalkeeper was speaking to Happy Hour TV when he was asked what Ronaldo was like off the pitch.

Foster replied: "He didn't drink. I remember we had a Christmas-do once, and he didn't come out.

"He wouldn't come out just because it was a night out drinking and all that kind of stuff.

"It was too much in the media eye and he wouldn't really get involved too much with stuff like that."

Ronaldo has always been open about the sacrifices he's had to make to reach the very top of the game.

In an interview with RSNG last year, he said: "I will always tell everyone that it is about the whole package.

"First of all, the talent helps a lot, of course. But from the very beginning, it’s important that you have a very strong work ethic when you are a professional – not just physically, but also mentally.

"So, since day one – and I am talking about when I started as a professional from the age of around 16, 17, 18 – my work ethic has been one where I always aimed to be the best.

"So, that means that I have always trained hard, always listened to the experienced players.
