Ex-Man Utd star Chris Smalling and wife "gobsmacked" after "spotting UFO"

Chris Smalling isn’t alien to dealing with fast-moving objects, but the former Manchester United star and his wife, Sam, allege they saw something not of this earth while on holiday.

The Roma defender and his family have been vacationing in Jamaica following a long Serie A season and were witnesses to an unidentified flying object “with lights flashing all around it.”

Smalling, 31, was sidelined for much of the 2020/21 season due to injury, making just 21 appearances in all competitions as the Giallorossi finished seventh in Italy’s top flight.

Model partner Sam uploaded a story to her Instagram detailing their brush with the seemingly extraterrestrial, assuring her followers no hallucinogenics were involved at the time.

She wrote: “Ok so I promise we weren't on magic mushrooms or anything but me and @smalling saw the craziest UFO last night ! Not like a quick few seconds sighting of something high in the sky that could have enough (sic) a plane!

“It flew down low past us and then turned and shot back high up in the sky where it stayed for an hour (maybe longer but we had to leave) it was too small to get on film when it stayed stationed in the sky although Chris could see it rotating with lights flashing all around it, (I could only see the outer lights at this point as my eyes aren't as good).

“We could have got it on camera when it was flying by us as it was clear to see but we were both too gobsmacked to get our cameras out. Plus we didn't want to look away and miss whatever it was. It looked massive. It didn't look like your typical ufo sightings. It was totally silent.”

What do you think Smalling and wife Sam saw in the Jamaica sky? Let us know in the comments section.

Sam—who wed ex-England international Smalling in June 2017—described the alleged spacecraft as “well camouflaged but it was like two separate 3D rectangles rotating around each other with faint light moving around the edges.”

Late legend Diego Maradona claimed in December 2019 that he was once abducted by aliens, having gone missing for three days “after a few too many drinks.”

The Smallings weren’t under the influence for their sighting as far as we know, and it was later clarified the ‘UFO’ couldn’t have been a rogue piece of flying equipment operated by human hands.

In a second story, Sam added: “For the record it was 100 billion % NOT a drone. It was massive and very sophisticated with faint lights all around the edge.

“It was also an odd shape not liek (sic) that of a drone. Crazy I know.

“Also wasn't a plane or anything like that. It was silent. Even drones are loud.”

Smalling will encounter a familiar sight when he reports for Roma’s pre-season training under former United chief Jose Mourinho, who has replaced Paulo Fonseca at the Stadio Olimpico.

‘The Special One’ has once again invaded Serie A more than a decade after winning back-to-back league titles and a Champions League crown with Inter Milan (2009/10).

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is another former Red Devil set for a Rome reunion alongside Mourinho, with the Armenian hoping to push on after he ended last season as Roma’s top scorer in Serie A (13 goals).
