Sometimes, when you least expect it, life can suddenly knee you in the back of the skull – as poor VFL Bochum star Anthony Losilla found out the hard way.
The midfielder was already left reeling in the middle of the pitch after clashing heads with Cristian Gamboa. Both players went for a challenge on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, only to crash into each other first in a rather nasty looking collision.
Concern was etched on the face of both players and their teammates as they both appeared to be waiting for the world to stop spinning while on the turf of the Signal Iduna Park. However, just as they may have been coming back down to earth, Losilla received another swift blow to their head from his own team doctor and physio.

Someone within the Bundesliga giants will likely be explaining why football boots have studs to the Bochum medical team. As the physio sprinted onto the pitch, he slipped at the worst possible moment.
As he tried to slow himself down, his feet went completely out from underneath him. Unfortunately, the only thing which stopped himself from perhaps sliding across the entire pitch, was Losilla’s head.
The physio, unintentionally, of course, ended up connecting with a firm slide tackle to the side of his player’s skull. While the slip would not have looked out of place in any slapstick comedy, it was not a funny situation for the physio of Losilla.

Such was the speed and force in which he hit him, the midfielder could probably count himself lucky that he was not seriously hurt. Nobody was laughing on the pitch, despite the embarrassing nature of the fall.
Fortunately, Losilla was able to carry on, despite the two clashes to his head. Not that he was able to save his side from losing comfortably to the Bundesliga heavyweights. Dortmund went on to run out 3-0 winners against Bochum, courtesy of a brace from Youssoufa Moukoko and a first half penalty from Giovanni Reyna.
And with Mats Hummels contract up at the end of the season, maybe they should consider a move from the tough tackling Bochum physio.
