Fulham have been savaged by fans online after launching a celebratory cheeseboard to commemorate their recent promotion back to the Premier League.

The Whites slipped out of the top-flight a year ago but are on their way back after romping to the Championship title this term. Marco Silva's side will join Bournemouth – coached by ex-Fulham chief Scott Parker – in the Premier League next year after notching over 100 goals in the second tier.

Jubilant Fulham fans swarmed onto the Craven Cottage pitch when the title was rubber-stamped last week, and now the Londoners have continued the celebrations by launching an entire promotion range on their website. But amongst a host of commemorative clothing, it's a £20 cheeseboard that has caught the eye of bewildered fans.

The Whites are currently taking pre-orders for the board, which is engraved with the Fulham club crest, the Championship trophy and "CHAMPIONS, EFL Championship 2021/22" across the middle.

Unsurprisingly, the quirky item has been come in for some stick online, with one fan poking fun at the club by quipping: "From the club that brought you Cheese and wine on away days. Introducing the title winning cheeseboard," while another tweeted: "Of course they f***ing did," complete with a laughing emoji.

Other fans made light of Fulham's recent history of yo-yoing between the Premier League and the Championship, with one user cheekily tweeting: "I’d hold out for the 23/24 one personally," while another fan quipped: "These will be all over the trains next season when they unpack their ocado packed lunches on away days".

Is Fulham's cheeseboard the most unusual item you've ever seen sold by a football club? Let us know in the comments section below.

Fulham's decision to produce the board could turn out to be a shrewd move after the club's fans went viral earlier in the season for tucking into some posh grub. A group who were travelling on the train up to Peterborough tucked into a cheeseboard with some wine – something that was ridiculed by other fans online.

But nobody was laughing with matters on the pitch after Silva's side surged to the title. And the Portuguese chief is adamant that his side has what it takes to avoid the drop next year.

Speaking after promotion was confirmed, Silva said: “The challenge is huge, but we want to be there and we worked so hard to achieve it. We have to be really positive and not go into the season with this concern on our mind, we have to go with full desire and ambition.”
