Gary Lineker had his followers in stitches after tweeting about his "spectacular truncheon."
England legend Lineker, 61, is known for having fun on social media, and the lead up to his spectacular truncheon quip started with a cheeky dig at Match of the Day colleague Micah Richards.
Richards took aim at Lineker after the official Match of the Day Twitter account that pointed out that the former Tottenham forward had won the PFA Player of the Season award before Richards was even born. That prompted Richards to tweet: "Can anyone confirm if @GaryLineker was any good in 86 or did he just goal hang? The old footage isn’t conclusive evidence!!"
Lineker responded with a middle finger emoji before ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley joined in by tweeting a picture of the Leicester City fan wearing a police officer's uniform, complete with holster and truncheon.
Designed to show Lineker's authority, Tyldesley tweeted: "Can't believe anyone is questioning you!" Never one to miss an opportunity for a cheap pun, the ex-Barcelona man had his followers falling over themselves with his reply.

One person joked: "The Magic Mike audition did not go well." While someone else said: "The era of short shorts and the village people. A wedding reception DJ special."
A third user added: "Nicked for receiving swollen goods." As a fourth commenter chimed in with: "I thought I was looking at a member of the village people for a sec."
Former Swindon, Middlesbrough and Barnsley man Jan Age Fjortoft also got in on the act, quoting a memorable line from Hollywood legend Mae West. "Is that a pistol in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me," he joked.
