Gary Neville has inadvertently hinted at a player he wants to see moved on at Manchester United this summer – and who their potential replacement might be.
The Sky Sports pundit was asked on Twitter what position he believes the Red Devils most need to strengthen this summer, responding with "CB, Striker, RW."
United are known to be in the market for a new centre-half and have been linked with a host of high-profile names across the continent.
In a tweet directly after listing United's priorities, Neville went on to claim Harry Maguire was the club's most-important player, suggesting Victor Lindelof is the man Neville believes United need to replace.
Lindelof has been Maguire's defensive partner for the majority of the season, making 41 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.
The 40-cap Sweden international moved to Old Trafford for £31million in 2017 but has failed live up to his promising reputation.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be targeting a new centre-half partner for Maguire – and Neville knows who he wants to see alongside United's captain next season.
When questioned on which player he most wants to join the Red Devils this summer, Neville named Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane as his number one target.
Varane has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford – and United's chances of agreeing a deal appear better than ever.
The Frenchman's contract at the Bernabeu expires in 2022, meaning cash-strapped Madrid could cash in on Varane this summer rather than letting him go for free in 12 months.
United's other potential options at centre-half include Sevilla ace Jules Kounde and Liverpool target Ibrahima Konate.
