Gary Neville's joke about refereeing expert Peter Walton left fellow pundit Jamie Carragher in tears.
The pair were covering Newcastle's Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, when VAR ruled out the Magpies' second goal for being offside with the score at 1-1. Toon star Elliot Anderson thought he nodded the Magpies into the lead, only for the strike from the near post to be ruled out because his team-mate Sean Longstaff inadvertently interfered with play when the ball was kicked against him by Forest ace Moussa Niakhate.
And Niakhate's sliced kick was preceded by his compatriot Felipe's botched clearance before the ball fell to Anderson, but VAR still ruled the goal out to the dismay of fans.

The contentious decision saw Neville deliver a lengthy explanation of the situation, causing fellow presenter Kelly Cates to quip: "We can all be grateful we didn't have to spend more time with you explaining that one."
Neville saw the funny side and roped Walton into the joke by declaring the former ref's expertise was needed to define what had happened on the pitch. Neville said: "We need Peter Walton! Peter, where are you?!" prompting Carragher to burst into laughter.

However, one pundit who didn't need anyone else's opinion on the decision was Alan Shearer, who slammed VAR on Twitter.
He fumed: "I’ve sat in the stand as a fan. I’ve sat in the studio as a pundit. I’ve watched in the pub tonight with my mates and you’re getting it all wrong VAR. It’s not what you told us."
But despite the ruled out goal, Newcastle kept their quest for a Champions League spot alive when Alexander Isak won them the game with a last-minute penalty, following his equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
And Forest on the other hand loiter perilously above the relegation zone after their loss, which sees just four points between them and bottom-placed Southampton.
