Harry Kane was given a reminder of his Arsenal roots on Good Morning Britain as Piers Morgan brought out an old photo of the Tottenham striker in his rivals’ colours.

The England captain appeared on the show to promote Football Shirt Friday, a campaign which raises money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

And Arsenal fan Morgan couldn’t resist teasing the forward how he started his youth career with the red half of north London.

The Tottenham striker played for their north London rivals until he was released at the age of 11

‘History with football shirts is quite complicated, isn’t it?’ said Morgan.

‘Because when you were a kid, as every Gunner knows, you were a proud Arsenal fan – what happened to you Harry Kane?’

Kane, who was probably expecting the reference at some point in the show, had his response ready.

‘I played for Arsenal when I was younger and unfortunately for them they let me go.

‘I’ve been at Tottenham since I was 11 years old and I’m reaping the rewards of that now.’

Kane scored his 150th Premier League goal after netting his 200th goal in all competitions

The striker scored his 150th Premier League goal for Spurs, three days after he scored his 200th Tottenham goal in his 300th game.

Jose Mourinho’s side are currently second in the table, one point off league leaders Leicester and Kane was adamant he has not intention of putting on an Arsenal shirt ever again.

‘Are you itching to go back to your roots?’ Morgan joked.

‘Absolutely not,’ Kane responded firmly. ‘We’re in a good spot at the moment so I’m happy.’

It didn’t stop the GMB presenter having one last attempt at trying to tempt the forward back to the Emirates.

The Spurs striker was promoting the Bobby Moore Fund’s Football Shirt Firday which raises money for Bowl Cancer, after the former England captain died of the illness at the age of 51

Showing the photo of Kane in the Arsenal shirt again, Morgan said: ‘That’s the shirt I want you wearing on Friday and I want you back in that shirt next season, you and Aubameyang up front would be invincible.’

Fans are encouraged to wear their football shirts to work this Friday (November 20), take a photo and donate to the Bobby Moore Fund, which raises money for Bowl Cancer.

Stephanie Moore MBE set up the charity in honour of her husband and England’s 1966 World Cup hero, who died of the disease at the age of 51.
