Mesut Ozil's good friend and new Schalke loan signing Sead Kolasinac says the Bundesliga club is "always a topic" of conversation between the pair, but added that that doesn't mean he'll rejoin them.
Kolasinac has headed back to Schalke on loan for the remainder of this season, three-and-a-half years after leaving the Gelsenkirchen-based side for the Emirates.
Ozil's time at Schalke goes back a little further.
He joined the club's youth ranks in 2005, before graduating to the first-team and playing 39 times before a 2008 move to Werder Bremen.
A move back to Schalke has been one suggestion for Ozil as he remains exiled by Arsenal, for whom he hasn't played this season, while reports on Wednesday suggest he has agreed a deal with Fenerbahce.
Kolasinac says it isn't something he's discussed with his friend though.
"We talked about Schalke, but not about whether he wants to come back too," he said at his press conference announcing the loan move.
"He comes from Gelsenkirchen so Schalke is always a topic."
As for Kolasinac, he is hoping to get some valuable minutes under his belt after losing his place as Arsenal's first-choice left-back to Kieran Tierney.
He joins a Schalke side who bit bottom of the Bundesliga with just four points from their 14 matches, but he he determined to help keep them up.
"I want to concentrate on this season, the aim is to take as many points as possible," he continued.
'We will see about everything else after the season."
Asked about what he learned at Arsenal, he added: "I have developed personally and athletically.
"The Premier League is the best league in the world, there are players in the team who have achieved a lot in their careers.
"I left as a teenager and came back as a family man."
