Leeds make two offers to Karen Carney after tweet mocking her suffers backlash

Leeds United have made two offers to Karen Carney after a tweet over comments from the Amazon Prime pundit received plenty of backlash.

Carney had questioned whether Leeds can keep up their intense performances for the entirety of the Premier League season following their promotion.

Carney believes the coronavirus break during the previous campaign allowed Marcelo Bielsa’s side the opportunity to regroup.

She said: “They outrun everyone and credit to them. My only concern would be, will they blow up at the end of the season like the last couple of seasons?

“I actually think they got promoted because of Covid in terms of it giving them a bit of respite.

“I don’t know if they’d have got up if they didn’t have that break.”

Those comments were made before Leeds beat Burnley 5-0 with the Whites taking to social media to hit back at Carney’s comments.

They tweeted: "'Promoted because of Covid’. Won the league by 10 points. Hi @primevideosport.”

The message received plenty of backlash, though Leeds are trying to make amends with offers to Carney.

The Times claim the Elland Road outfit have contacted Carney and invited her to the training ground.

It’s believed Leeds want the former England star to carry out a TV report before their FA Cup third-round match against Crawley Town.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has also offered Carney to be a guest for a Leeds game, apologising for the abuse she has suffered.

Radrizzani said: “I’m very sorry Karen was abused on social media. I wanted to defend my club and our players from a comment, which I felt was harsh from Karen on air.
