Leeds United host Southampton in midweek Premier League action with Marcelo Bielsa’s side looking to bounce back from two straight defeats.

The hosts suffered two losses on the road against Arsenal and Wolves, which has seen them slip into the bottom half of the table.

Recent results have been even worse for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints, who have claimed just one point from their last five matches and are in the worst form in the entire league.

Leeds have won in each of their last four Premier league matches that top goalscorer Patrick Bamford has netted in.

The abrasive No9 has scored 12 goals this season, along with five assists, as he finally looks settled in the topflight after several unsuccessful loans.

Gareth Southgate will be watching on intently as he starts for the hosts this evening.

It can never be easy trying to find the guts to bounce back from a 9-0 defeat. So imagine trying to do it twice!

It has been no secret that Southampton have really struggled recently and have failed to win any of their last seven league matches.

A win tonight would see them leapfrog Leeds and create a healthy gap between them and the drop zone.

With the free-flowing, attacking-minded style of play that Marcelo Bielsa promotes with Leeds United, consistency in the topflight was always going to be hard to come by.

They have now lost their previous two matches against Wolves and Arsenal and have proved extremely unpredictable since the turn of the year.

They are currently 12th in the Premier League and look destined for mid table by the end of the season – and a win today would keep them a healthy distance from any late drama. Not bad for their first year back in the big time.
