Liverpool have been backed to sign Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer at the end of the season. Dembele’s contract expires next June and he can agree a deal with foreign clubs in the January transfer window. The Frenchman’s spell at Barca has been littered with injury problems.
Dembele has made just 118 appearances for Barca since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
He is currently out with a hamstring injury and is yet to feature under Ronald Koeman this term.
Manchester United were interested in signing Dembele in the summer of 2020 after failing to land Jadon Sancho in that window.
But he remained at the Nou Camp after rejecting a loan move to Old Trafford.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has attempted to sign Dembele before.
Klopp had left Dortmund before Dembele arrived but tried to bring him to Anfield in 2016 ahead of his move to the Bundesliga club.
On previous interest from Liverpool, Dembele said in 2017: “I saw Klopp in Paris but I told him I’d made up my mind to sign for BVB.”
However, former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman can see Klopp going back in for the 24-year-old at the end of this season.

McManaman admits it would be a risk due to Dembele’s fitness issues but says it could be worth the gamble due to the fact it would be a free transfer.
McManaman told horseracing.net: “If they could get him on a free contract and get the deal sorted then I don’t think there’s any problem with that.
“His wage demands would have to come under the structure of what Liverpool would like to pay but due to the fact he would be a free signing and the player knows Jurgen Klopp personally, then it could be a smart piece of business.
“He’s a very talented boy but his attitude has been questioned a lot during his time at Barcelona.
“He’s had a lot of injuries and he’s injured again at the moment, so his games ratio has not been good at all and that’s another thing a prospective buyer has to take into account.
“Nowadays when a club signs a player, they look into every single aspect of the player and not just what he does on the pitch.
“Liverpool will do their due diligence on him and whether they take that punt or not is another thing.
“However, a really talented player available on a free transfer is certainly worth a risk.”
